PDA Phone

Every major PDA brand Visor, Palm, Psion, PocketPC and RIM make PDA phones. Cellular companies such as Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson also blur the lines between PDAs and phones. A lower end PDA phone such as a basic Treo by Visor is much more of a phone than a PDA. Higher end phones such as a RIM Blackberry PDA are a true merger between a PDA and a phone, with a wide range of multi media abilities. Some PDA phones offer wireless browsing or picture taking abilities, however in general it's hard not to sacrifice phone abilities for PDA abilities or vice versa. Most PDA phones carry a monthly fee for connectivity. Ofttimes, a PDA phone is sold as part of a package with a yearly comment to a certain phone company's service.

Some things to consider when looking for a PDA phone are the range of applications (phonebook, calendar & to-do list, games). Other factors such as infrared connectivity, sound quality, an easy to use interface, potential expansion slots and stand-by phone time are very important. The price of a PDA phone rises as the models begin to have more PDA Multi Media features. If you're looking for a basic phone/organizer you can easily pay around $150, while PDA phones with many features run all the way up to $600.

PDA Software

PDA software can enormously increase your PDA's functions capacity and skill set. Every PDA comes with basic programs to help you keep track of contacts and organize your schedule. However, there's a wide range of additional programs available for use including PDA Productivity Software, graphics software, map software and PDA Games software.
