PocketPC PDA

PocketPC PDAs were introduced in April of 2000 by Microsoft, the behemoth of computer companies. Since then, the PocketPC models have only gotten sleeker and faster. PocketPC PDAs tend to fall in the mid price range of PDA's from about $250-$450.

In general, PocketPC PDAs include a stereo headphone jack and WMP, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, and Pocket MS Money. All PocketPC PDAs come with MS ActiveSync, the MS syncing application for linking with Windows desktops. The latest Pocket PC PDAs have USB cradle connections, while serial cradles are available for separate purchase. Most PocketPC PDAs have 32 or 64 mb of memory and a StrongARM processor running at 206 MHz. (That's pretty speedy!) Many PocketPC PDAs have one SD card slot (generally used for memory cards or software). Some also have a CompactFlash Card slot, for adding a camera or even more memory. PDAs with CF type II expansion slots can also accommodate modems and wireless networking cards. PocketPC PDAs have tend to have high functionality, with much greater processing, audio, memory and graphics capability than a Palm OS PDAs. If you want more than a simple organizer, a PocketPC PDA is worth a look.

PDA Software

PDA software can enormously increase your PDA's functions capacity and skill set. Every PDA comes with basic programs to help you keep track of contacts and organize your schedule. However, there's a wide range of additional programs available for use including PDA Productivity Software, graphics software, map software and PDA Games software.
